Lancers Set School Mark for 3-Pointers in a Season

There's no doubt the Lutheran South girls basketball team can shoot from long distance.

In a Feb. 8 win over St. Paul Lutheran in a game played at Saxony Lutheran, Lutheran South eclipsed the mark of 143 3-pointers in a season, which has been set in 2006-07.

It was a 3-pointer by senior guard Megan Lindzy that broke the mark.

“I think it's so awesome that such a young team can break records,” junior guard Emma Heskett said. “But, most importantly, it will be even better when we set new records next year. I am so proud that our only senior was the person who actually broke the record.”

Sophomore Emma Pawlitz leads South with 63 threes, including a school-record nine in a game, while junior Chloe Akerson also has 46.

Lancers coach Ben Ealick said the thought of breaking the record was broached by some players in early January. The Lancers have 148 3-pointers with three regular-season games left on the schedule.
